UPVC / PVC Ball Valve
UPVC ball valves — also known as PVC ball valves — are the economical workhorse for quarter-turn on/off control of ambient-temperature water and mild chemicals: industrial and RO water, weak acids and alkalis, salt solutions, and seawater. We build ours from virgin UPVC (unplasticized PVC) with a PTFE seat, in true union and flanged configurations, easy to install with standard solvent cement.
A ball valve gives a full-bore, low-pressure-drop flow path and a fast quarter-turn action, while the PTFE seat handles frequent cycling without leaking. As a manual valve it is simple, low-cost, and reliable, with nothing electrical or pneumatic to fail.
UPVC (PVC) chemical compatibility
UPVC — the rigid, unplasticized form of PVC — is rated to about 55 °C and suits ambient-temperature water and mildly corrosive media.
Suitable: ambient industrial water and reverse-osmosis (RO) water; weak acids and alkalis; general inorganic salt solutions; seawater and high-salinity media.
Not recommended: strong oxidising acids (high-concentration sulfuric or nitric); aromatic and chlorinated solvents (benzene, toluene, acetone); hot, strong alkalis.
See our chemical resistance reference for more.
True union or flanged?
The true union version (DN15–DN100) screws apart at both ends, so you can remove the valve for cleaning or seat replacement without cutting pipe. It is the best choice for small-bore lines inside water-treatment skids and RO units.
The flanged version (DN15–DN200) bolts to the pipe through integral flanges for greater strength against pipe stress and vibration. It is the standard choice on larger water mains — roughly DN80 and above — and at pump outlets in a treatment plant.
Manual or pneumatic?
Choose the manual valve for low-frequency operation — RO bypass, tank draining, and manual flow trimming. For backwash-pump interlocks, automated dosing, or fault shut-off, use our UPVC pneumatic ball valve instead.
Why our UPVC / PVC ball valves
- PTFE seat for leak-free service through frequent cycling.
- Excellent value — UPVC is the economical first choice for ambient-temperature water and mild chemicals.
- Easy to install — rigid PVC bonds with standard solvent cement, with no special fusion-welding tools needed.
- 304 or 316 stainless steel stem option, virgin branded resin, and factory-direct supply.
- Lightweight, low cost, minimal maintenance, water-hammer-friendly — the slow manual close avoids pressure surges in plastic lines.
Configurations

- True union: DN15–DN100 (1/2″–4″); socket or threaded ends.
- Flanged: DN15–DN200 (1/2″–8″); ANSI, DIN, or JIS flanges.

Typical applications
UPVC (PVC) manual ball valves suit ambient water and light chemical duty: isolation and flow control in industrial water treatment, seawater desalination and reverse-osmosis plants, and ambient-temperature dilution and transfer of mild chemicals. To weigh UPVC against the other thermoplastics, see our plastic valve material selection guide.

Frequently asked questions
Is a UPVC ball valve the same as a PVC ball valve?
In practice, yes. UPVC stands for unplasticized PVC — the rigid form of PVC used for pressure pipe and valves — so “UPVC ball valve” and “PVC ball valve” refer to the same rigid PVC valve. The flexible, plasticized PVC used in hoses is a different material and is not used here.
What is a UPVC (PVC) ball valve used for?
UPVC ball valves provide manual on/off isolation of ambient-temperature water and mild chemicals — industrial and RO water, weak acids and alkalis, salt solutions, and seawater — in water treatment, desalination, and light chemical lines.
What temperature and pressure can a UPVC ball valve handle?
The UPVC body is rated to about 55 °C and PN10 at ambient temperature, with the allowable pressure falling as temperature rises. For hotter service, choose CPVC (to ~90 °C).
Is a UPVC ball valve suitable for seawater and RO systems?
Yes. UPVC resists seawater and high-salinity media and is widely used in desalination and reverse-osmosis plants, where its corrosion resistance and low cost work well together.
Should I choose a true union or flanged UPVC ball valve?
Choose true union (DN15–DN100) for small-bore lines in treatment skids and RO units that are serviced often. Choose flanged (DN15–DN200) for larger water mains (around DN80 and above) and pump outlets.
What sizes and minimum order apply?
True union runs DN15–DN100 and flanged DN15–DN200, rated PN10, with a minimum order of 20 pieces and OEM/custom options. Send us your media and conditions for a quotation.
