Industrial PVC air actuated true union ball valves with smooth socket ends, ideal for automated water treatment and chemical dosing systems.

PVC Pneumatic True Union Ball Valve

The Huiya PVC pneumatic ball valve — also known as a UPVC ball valve in DIN-standard markets — is a true union, full-port automated valve for ambient-temperature water, chemical dosing, and seawater service. Made from UPVC and rated to 60°C and PN16, it delivers excellent corrosion resistance at the lowest cost of any plastic valve — the smart choice when your media is below 60°C and you don’t need to pay for CPVC or stainless steel. The true union design lets you service the valve without cutting your pipework.

The Cost-Smart Choice for Ambient-Temperature Service

Not every line needs an expensive valve. For water and chemical media below 60°C, UPVC offers the same — or better — corrosion resistance as costlier materials, at a fraction of the price. Where 316L stainless steel would corrode in saltwater or chlorinated water, UPVC is completely immune.

Best-fit applications:

Municipal & industrial water treatment — RO pre-filtration, wastewater discharge
Ambient chemical dosing — sodium hypochlorite, PAC dosing (with FKM seals)
Commercial pools & aquariums — UPVC is completely immune to free chlorine and seawater
Irrigation & fertigation — automated mainline irrigation, ambient liquid fertilizer

Service Without Cutting Pipes

In lines prone to scaling or algae build-up, the true union design is a lifesaver. Unscrew the two union nuts, remove the central valve body for cleaning or O-ring replacement in about 15 minutes — without shutting down the plant or cutting pipes. UPVC is also far lighter than metal, reducing pipe-support loads and installation labor.

Chemical Compatibility

UPVC offers excellent corrosion resistance for ambient-temperature media:

Excellent for:

Water — potable, deionized, seawater, brackish water
Standard acids — dilute sulfuric, hydrochloric (low-mid concentration), dilute nitric, phosphoric
Alkalis & salts — sodium hydroxide (ambient), sodium carbonate, calcium chloride, and nearly all inorganic salt solutions
Strong oxidizers — sodium hypochlorite, wet chlorine, hydrogen peroxide (FKM/Viton seals required — see note)
Seal selection tip: For sodium hypochlorite (bleach), chlorine, or any strong oxidizer, you must specify FKM (Viton) O-rings. Standard EPDM degrades in free chlorine within months. Huiya offers full FKM configuration on all UPVC automated valves.
Not recommended: any media above 60°C; organic solvents and aromatics (acetone, benzene, toluene, carbon tetrachloride); concentrated nitric or sulfuric acid; polar organics like acetic acid. For hot acids upgrade to CPVC (93°C); for hot caustic use PPH (85°C); for organic solvents use PVDF.

Applications

Real projects:— lithium battery (Changzhou, China): Huiya supplied UPVC chemical piping for an electrolyte transfer line, passing -10°C to 45°C thermal cycling tests with zero leakage over 2.5 years. Fittings withstood 1.6 MPa (well above the 1.25 MPa industry standard), and resisted sulfuric and phosphoric acid for 5+ years.
Real projects:—power plant (Malaysia): Huiya UPVC pipe-and-valve systems have operated over 2 years with valves cycling 20,000+ times without leakage.

Common Selection Mistakes to Avoid

Mistake 1 — The Temperature Trap (using UPVC above 60°C). The most common mistake worldwide. UPVC’s Vicat softening point is around 75°C; in continuous service above 60°C the body softens like clay and can deform or burst under internal pressure. Treat 60°C (140°F) as the absolute red line. If your fluid or ambient temperature frequently exceeds 55°C, upgrade to CPVC or PPH. Spending 20% more on CPVC now saves you 10,000% in disaster recovery later.
Mistake 2 — Wrong seal material for bleach. UPVC itself resists sodium hypochlorite well, but customers often pick the cheapest EPDM O-rings to save money. EPDM oxidizes in free chlorine and turns brittle within 2–3 months, causing internal leakage and loss of dosing control. For hypochlorite, chlorine, or any strong oxidizer, always specify FKM (Viton).
Mistake 3 — Ignoring actuator sizing for sticky media. When the line carries scaling fluids or slurry (not clean water), internal friction rises. Sizing the actuator for clean water leaves it underpowered — the ball jams half-closed and the process stalls. Tell us if you handle scaling fluids or slurry; we add a 30% safety factor to actuator sizing to guarantee enough torque to cut through buildup.

Quality & Reliability

Burst pressure (DN50): ruptured only at 4.5 MPa (45 bar / 652 PSI) — nearly 3× the PN16 rating, proving high mechanical strength from 100% virgin UPVC
Cycle test: 100,000+ pneumatic open/close cycles in 20°C water at 10 bar — minimal PTFE seat wear, Class A zero leakage
Low breakaway torque: CNC-polished ball lowers torque ~20% below industry average — letting you drive it with a smaller, cheaper actuator (e.g. AT52 instead of AT63)
Design service life: up to 50 years under standard ambient water conditions within rated pressure
Every unit pressure- and seal-tested before shipment

Handling hotter or more aggressive media? The same true union design is available in CPVC, PPH and PVDF. For larger bores or higher pressure, step up to the PVC flanged ball valve, or the PVC butterfly valve for big-diameter, space-saving isolation. Not sure which material fits your media? Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Is “PVC” the same as “UPVC”?

Yes. UPVC (unplasticized PVC, also written PVC-U) is the rigid PVC used for industrial pipe and valves. North American markets typically call it “PVC”; DIN-standard markets call it “UPVC.” Same material, same valve.

Q: What is the maximum temperature?

60°C (140°F). Above this, UPVC softens and loses pressure rating — for hot media, choose CPVC (93°C) or PPH (85°C).

Q: Can it handle sodium hypochlorite / bleach?

Yes, at ambient temperature — but you must use FKM (Viton) seals, not EPDM. EPDM degrades quickly in free chlorine.

Q: Can it be used with seawater?

Yes — UPVC is completely immune to seawater corrosion, making it ideal for pools, aquariums, and desalination pre-treatment.

Q: Can I service it without cutting the pipe?

Yes — the true union design lets you unscrew the union nuts and remove the valve body for cleaning or seal replacement in about 15 minutes.

Q: Is it full port?

Yes, full port (full bore) — bore matches pipe ID, minimizing pressure drop.
