The challenge
The plant ran hot acidic process and leach lines in PTFE-lined carbon steel. The lined-steel system was heavy, slow and expensive to install, and vulnerable to corrosion at the lined joints. The site needed automated on/off valves for hot acidic service that would resist corrosion, cycle reliably over years of duty, and bring down the high installed cost of the metal system.
The solution
We supplied CPVC pneumatic double-acting ball valves together with a matching CPVC piping system. CPVC handles the hot acidic media to about 90 °C without the corrosion and weight of lined steel, while the double-acting actuators automate the open/close cycle. Each valve uses a PTFE seat for leak-free cycling and a stainless steel stem, and the bodies are moulded from virgin branded resin.

The results
- 38% lower installed cost versus the PTFE-lined carbon steel system — lighter components, faster joining, and no lining work.
- Zero leaks over 3 years and more than 10,000 operating cycles.
- Lower maintenance, with no corrosion at the joints.
Switching from lined steel to a CPVC system removed both the corrosion problem and a large share of the installation cost — without giving up reliable automated operation.
